The office of The teacher
A Teacher as an office is a minister called and anointed by the Holy Spirit to make difficult or complex issues inside the word of God understandable. He tells or shows the fundamentals or spiritual concepts, causing others to know the facts and consequences of a matter.
A teacher is an instructor and subject-master. The teacher will connect mysterious revelations in the word of God to our practical daily life.
Jesus, the perfect teacher:
“Then He went down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and was teaching them on the Sabbaths. 32 And they were astonished at His teaching, for His word was with authority”. Luke 4:31-32.
“There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” John 3:1-2.
Nicodemus said to Jesus: “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” In Christ, The teacher must teach about heaven by showing heaven at work in people’s lives. That’s why the bible says that Jesus was teaching with authority.
Nicodemus explains that the teaching style of Jesus Christ is Unique and can only come from God:” for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” Jesus Teaches with signs and wonders. He doesn’t teach like the scribes: “28 And so it was, when Jesus had ended these sayings, that the people were astonished at His teaching, 29 for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes”. Matthew 7:28-29.
“20 When He (Jesus) saw their faith, He said to him, “Man, your sins are forgiven you.” 21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, “Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?” 22 But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, He answered and said to them, “Why are you reasoning in your hearts? 23 Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Rise up and walk’? 24 But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—He said to the man who was paralyzed, “I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” 25 Immediately he rose up before them, took up what he had been lying on, and departed to his own house, glorifying God. 26 And they were all amazed, and they glorified God and were filled with fear, saying, “We have seen strange things today!”. “ Luke 5:20-26.
“But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins” This knowledge was not taught to these Scribes and Pharisees with persuasive words of human wisdom but in demonstration of the power of God that day. They were all amazed, and they glorified God and were filled with fear. This can’t happen during an intellectual transfer of knowledge.
The teacher as Office and anointing in the body of Christ
In Christ, Paul was teaching with authority:
“4 And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but the power of God”. 1 Corinthians 2:4-5.
Paul’s description shows that he was teaching with authority like Christ, as Nicodemus saw Jesus Christ did.
Theology is important but needs to operate with power. No theology can match the teaching style of Jesus Christ that operates with authority and power.
Jesus still gives this teaching anointing today for the benefit of His Church. “And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ”. Ephesians 4:11-13.
